Platelet Rich Plasma

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections for Scalp and Skin

plasma injections

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections were first used in 1987 in open heart surgery and today, due to the healing powers of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections, this therapy is safely used in many fields including sports medicine, orthopaedics, dental surgeries and medical aesthetics.

Here at MD Skin Boutique we use Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections primarily for Alopecia in men and women, and when is combined with specific oral medication, the effects of the PRP treatment are much superior compared to only receiving PRP injections.

Benefits of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections in cosmetics

PRP is a recent technology that uses ingredients from your own blood to regenerate your skin and to rejuvenate collagen, resulting in younger looking skin and thicker, luxurious hair. These ingredients reside within the fraction of your blood named “Platelet Rich Plasma” (PRP). PRP is enriched with platelets, stem cells and growth factors. Once injected into your skin, these substances will accelerate the normal healing process via new collagen formation at the injected area. Because your plasma (autologous) is used, there is no danger of disease transmission, anaphylaxis or neoplasia.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections are ‘bioactive’ stimulators NOT a filler and will increase collagen providing a gradual increase in hair thickness and improvement in skin texture. Visible results appear after the first treatment session.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections are effective for treating:

  • The eye area
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improvement in skins tone & texture
  • Full face rejuvenation
  • Décolletage
  • Dull dry skin
  • Neck rings

PRP’s most exciting feature is that it is YOUR body, YOUR blood and YOUR plasma. Nothing artificial, nothing modified and therefore is 100% safe. It is the most natural way of rejuvenating.

The Result: Improved Skin Texture and Thicker Hair

For optimal results with skin, our medical protocol recommends a minimum of three (3) PRP treatments, each performed 4-6 weeks apart. Improvement of skin texture and tone are noticeable within 3 weeks. The results of the treatment will last approximately 12-24 months. To keep the skin and face looking youthful, we also recommend that clients have follow-up injections yearly.

For optimal results with hair, our medical protocol recommends receiving one treatment every 6 months. This gives the skin longer time to heal and regrow before your next procedure. All treatments should be followed up with oral medication for the best results. We recommend a vitamin that promotes hair growth. This will accelerate the hair regrowth process and allow you to recapture your beautifully thick and luscious hair.

What to expect

At your first appointment, our physician will take down a detailed clinical history and discuss any other medical conditions that may be relevant to this treatment. Our medical staff will also need to check to see if you have recently used any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAID’s). Examples include Advil, Aspirin, and Motrin. These interfere with platelet production by the bone marrow, so they must be stopped 10 days prior to this procedure.

Ten minutes prior to your PRP treatment, our physician will draw five to ten cc’s of your blood, similar to taking a standard blood test, causing minimal pain. Thereafter the blood will be separated in the special centrifuge into its ingredients, which is then injected below the surface of the skin in the area of hair loss. Using your enriched plasma permits the body to heal and rejuvenate faster and more efficiently.

A single PRP treatment will take approximately 30-45 minutes. You can go straight back to work following a hair PRP treatment but be prepared for some minor swelling.

This photo demonstrates the improvements seen in hair thickness six months after the initial PRP treatment. You will be able to achieve the same results as this photo if you follow up your treatment with special oral vitamins that promote healthy regrowth. After six months, book your next PRP appointment with MD Skin Boutique.

Who will benefit?

The method is indicated to persons revealing the signs of skin dehydration and flaccidity: loss of elasticity, occurrence of mimic and dermal wrinkles, appearance of unhealthy face color (specifically in smokers) or pigmentation. The nature of the above phenomena does not matter in this case: it may be natural aging and UV damage (due to excessive tanning), previous diseases, unexplained rapid weight loss, aggressive peelings, etc. Certainly, it is better to start everything in time, i.e. the effect of this procedure much brighter at 30-35 than at 50. This is explained by the deceleration and exhaustion of the skin recovery process with age.
