Lip Augmentation

Full and luscious lips are one of the most commonly desired physical attributes, especially by women. Thanks to new cosmetic developments, it has become possible to enhance the look of otherwise thin and proportionally unbalanced lips in just minutes.
Lip augmentation is a cosmetic procedure designed to create fuller, smoother lips, and can also reduce fine lines around the mouth. Since thinner lips are one of the most noticeable and universal signs of aging, lip enhancement is not only an appearance-enhancing procedure, but also an anti-aging procedure.
There are a variety of methods available to enhance and reshape the lips. Injectable fillers offer a fast and easy way to achieve natural looking lips that are balanced and well-proportioned. Fillers can be used to enhance the vermillion border (the outline of the lip), provide fullness where needed in both the upper and lower lip. At MD Skin Boutique we use hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers in our procedures.
We use a special filler for our lip augmentation procedure which is now completely painless. This special filler is already premixed with a local anesthetic agent, which completely eliminates pain and discomfort during the procedure. It is an excellent product and has completely changed perceptions of pain that surround the lip filling procedure. This filler also allows for us to be exactly precise in the amount of filler we administer during your procedure. You will walk away with perfectly shaped lips that will never look over done.
FAQs
What is Lip Augmentation?
Cosmetic lip augmentation is defined as the procedure designed to augment and improve the shape of a lip that is not affected by trauma or congenital deformity.
What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a natural sugar found in all living cells that helps maintain skin volume by attracting and binding over 1,000 times its weight in water. Aging, diseases, and other stresses weaken the amount and quality of hyaluronic acid. Injection of new hyaluronic acid into the skin replaces the body’s lost hyaluronic acid and creates the volume.
Who is a candidate?
Cosmetic indications include patients who desire fuller or shapelier lips and who are otherwise in good health. Those with very thin lips, fine lines around the mouth, or asymmetry of the lips can benefit from lip augmentation.
What results can be obtained from lip treatment?
The vermilion border can be accentuated, and the lip can be given more volume.
Is there a down time?
When performed as a stand-alone procedure, most non-surgical lip augmentations are considered a “lunchtime” procedure, meaning you can return to work immediately afterward. However, some swelling and bruising is normal, and can last an average of 3 to 7 days.
How long does the effect last?
Since dermal fillers are made of a substance very similar to your own skin, the same ongoing process (such as aging) that changes the structure of your skin will also alter the implant. Eventually the implant totally disappears from the body. Most patients choose to have touch-up treatments done within 6-12 months of the original treatment.
Are there contraindications?
Contraindications for cosmetic lip augmentation include facial nerve disorders, recurrent herpes simplex lesions, diabetes, severe hypertension, history of multiple allergies, and/or autoimmune disorders. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before performing this procedure.
